18-Inch Pipe Bomb Found Behind Holmesburg Church Near Railroad Tracks


A shocking discovery was made in Philadelphia on Sunday, February 21st, 2023 when a passerby noticed an 18-inch PVC pipe bomb behind St. Dominic Catholic Church in the Holmesburg neighborhood. The bomb squad was immediately called to the scene and removed the device for further investigation.

The 18-inch pipe bomb had capped ends and black powder on it, according to police sources who spoke with FOX 29. Fortunately, no one was injured and there were no reports of any damage caused by the device.


The incident is still under investigation as authorities try to determine who planted the explosive near the church and why they did so. It is unclear if this incident is related to any other recent incidents in Philadelphia or elsewhere in Pennsylvania.
