Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter gave his employees until Thursday to either commit to “extremely hardcore” work quit. According to an internal email that was sent out by Musk, and later obtained by CNN the email read:
“Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore…This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”
In the email, he outlines that Twitter will be “much more engineering-driven” and gives an ultimatum. “If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below.”
Musk said that any employee who failed to do so by 5 p.m. ET this Thursday will get three months severance pay.
The email’s subject line was “A fork in the road.”y half the staff, including crucial roles in curation, wellness, public policy and other teams.
“Whatever decision you make,” wrote Musk in the email, “thank you for your efforts to make Twitter successful.”
