Flyers’ Provorov Jersey Sold Out Online After Boycott Of ‘Pride Night’

On Thursday, January 21st, 2023, National Hockey League player Ivan Provorov's jersey was sold out on several websites in men's sizes after the player refused to wear a Pride-themed jersey. The incident occurred during the Philadelphia Flyers' Pride Night on Tuesday, when Provorov chose not to participate due to his religious beliefs.

The news of Provorov's refusal quickly spread and was met with criticism from some media outlets. However, it appears that the controversy has only increased demand for Provorov's jersey. Fans have been quick to show their support for the NHL star by purchasing his jerseys online.

John Tortorella, head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets and former coach of the Flyers, defended Provorov's decision not to wear the Pride-themed jersey. "Provy did nothing wrong," said Tortorella in an interview with CBS Sports. He went on to explain that he believes everyone should be allowed to express their beliefs without fear of judgement or criticism.

It is unclear if this surge in sales will continue or if it will eventually die down as other news stories take precedence. Nevertheless, it is clear that there is a large number of fans who are standing behind Ivan Provorov and showing their support through buying his jerseys online.
