George Floyd’s Family Plans A $250 Million Lawsuit Against Kanye West
George Floyd’s family is suing Kanye West for $250 million in response to his comments on the podcast Drink Champs regarding the murder of George Floyd.
On Tuesday, a press release revealed that Roxie Washington, had put Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon on retainer to file the lawsuit against Ye. Washington is acting on behalf of her child (the sole beneficiary of Floyd’s estate). The suit has Floyd’s daughter being represented by the two firms jointly and seeking $250 million in damages.
“Kanye’s comments are a repugnant attempt to discount George Floyd’s life and to profit from his inhumane death,” said attorney Pat D. Dixon III, Dixon continued, saying that they would “hold Mr. West accountable” for his “flagrant remarks.”
The suit is against Ye and his “business partners” and “associates.”
The lawsuit brings forth the argument Ye’s comments, qualified as as “harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.”
