Greta Thunberg Arrested at London Oil Conference Protest
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was arrested in London during a protest outside an oil and gas conference formerly known as the "Oil and Money" conference, at a luxury hotel in the city. The 20-year-old has been charged with a public order offence following her arrest.
The arrest took place on Tuesday morning when Thunberg joined hundreds of protesters gathered at the five-star hotel to denounce the conference. A witness reported that Thunberg was detained by police at the scene.
Thunberg's arrest is connected to her involvement in the Fossil Free London protest. She is accused of disobedience to law enforcement for refusing to obey police asking her to leave the scene. This incident happened a month after she was charged on September 15 for a similar offence.
The so-called activist was protesting against the oil and gas industry at the time of her arrest. The protest was dubbed the “Oily Money Out” movement, and took place outside the InterContinental London Park Lane hotel.
