The U.S. government has announced it will spend $290 million on emergency drugs to respond to a potential nuclear attack.
The drug HHS is proposing to acquire, Nplate, is made by Amgen. It's a subcutaneous powder for injection that contains 125 mcg (for one Injection). The cost of 125 micrograms (for one injection) is approximately $1,195.
"Nplate is approved to treat blood cell injuries that accompany acute radiation syndrome in adult and pediatric patients."
