Huge Explosion To Europe’s Longest Bridge That Connects Russia And Crimea, Ukraine Celebrates(VIDEO)
The key bridge connecting Crimea to Russia was hit by a huge explosion. Part of the crossing collapsed into the sea, imperiling the primary supply route for Russian troops fighting in the south of Ukraine, reported by Russian news agency Tass
The SBU in Ukraine responded, "The bridge is burning gorgeously," on its Telegram social media feed.
According to Tass “An object believed to be a fuel storage tank has caught fire on the Crimean Bridge, but the viaduct’s navigable arches sustained no damage."
The Crimean Bridge, also known as the Kerch Strait Bridge, is a 19-kilometer (12 mi) bridge-tunnel system that connects the Russian mainland with the Crimean Peninsula. The crossing consists of a 12-kilometer (7.5 mi) bridge portion connecting Taman in Krasnodar Krai with Crimea's Kerch Peninsula, as well as a 7-kilometer (4.3 mi) road section and a 4-kilometer (2.5 mi) railway section linking the peninsula to the Crimean mainland. It is the longest bridge in Europe and was opened on 15 May 2018 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
