Non-Binary Colorado LGBTQ Club Shooting Suspect Pleads Guilty
On Monday, June 26th, 2023, Anderson Lee Aldrich, a 23-year-old non-binary suspect in the shooting at an LGBTQ club in Colorado Springs last year pleaded guilty to five counts of murder and 46 counts of attempted murder.
The attack took place on November 19th, 2022 at Club Q, an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs. Aldrich entered the club with an assault rifle and opened fire, killing five people and injuring several others. He was originally charged with 305 criminal counts including hate crimes and murder.
Aldrich pleaded guilty to all charges against him and will face life in prison without parole for his actions. During the hearing he stated “I intentionally and after deliberation caused the death of each victim”.
The victims of this tragedy have been identified as: Marissa Castillo, 24; Christopher Gallegos, 27; Jody Ray Thompson, 29; Daniel Hawkins Jr., 25; and Kevin Tyrell Davis, 25. Their families are still grieving their loss but feel a sense of closure now that justice has been served.
