Not Shocking At All, But Lauren London Never Kissed Jonah Hill In "You People,” It Was All CGI
The recent Netflix comedy "You People" has been making headlines for its unexpected twist. It turns out that the kiss between Jonah Hill and Lauren London was not real, but instead faked with CGI.
Actor Andrew Schulz, who stars in the movie alongside Hill and London, revealed that the kiss was done with special effects. He said he was present for the scene where Hill's Ezra and London's Amira marriage scene, in which he witnessed the actors never lock lips.
“There’s a hilarious thing — I don’t even know if I should share this shit — but the final scene, they don’t even kiss,” Schulz said. “It’s CGI. Swear to God," he told Charlemagne Tha God on the podcast The Brilliant Idiots.
Schulz goes on to say, “I’m there — I’m watching the wedding — and I see them go in for the kiss, and their faces stop like this far. And I’m like, ‘I wonder how they’re gonna play that in the movie. Oh, they’re probably just gonna cut right there.’ But the movie, you could see their faces come close, and then you could see their faces morph a little bit into a fake kiss.”
This news wasn't surprising to many fans, being that the chemistry in the film seemed off a lot. While this isn't unusual in Hollywood, it still comes as a shock that two popular actors would use CGI for their on-screen kiss.
It's unclear why Hill and London chose to use CGI instead of filming an actual kiss. Some speculate that it could be due to health concerns or safety protocols due to the ongoing pandemic. Others have speculated that even though they played lovers in the movie, that Johanna Hill just isn't her type.
Whatever the reason may be, it's clear that this decision has caused some controversy among fans of both actors. Many are disappointed that they didn't get to see a real kiss between two of their favorite stars, while others are just curious about why they chose to go down this route in the first place.
