Trump Surges to Largest-Ever Lead Over DeSantis in Post-Indictment Poll

Former President Donald Trump has surged to his largest-ever lead over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a recent Yahoo News/YouGov poll, one of the first conducted since Trump was indicted by the Manhattan District Attorney's office on Thursday. The poll showed that among 2024 Republican primary voters, Trump leads DeSantis by 26 percentage points.

The news comes as no surprise to many political analysts, who have long predicted that an indictment would only serve to strengthen Trump's support base. Indeed, the former president has been able to rally his supporters around him and use the indictment as a rallying cry against what he calls "the deep state."

Trump's surge in popularity is also likely due to his continued presence on social media and his frequent appearances at rallies and other events. His ability to connect with his supporters and maintain their loyalty has been key in maintaining his lead over DeSantis.

Despite the good news for Trump, it remains unclear whether or not he will be able to translate this surge in popularity into a successful presidential bid come 2024. With several other potential candidates already lining up for the Republican nomination, it will be interesting to see how things play out over the next few years.

For now, however, it appears that Trump is firmly ahead of DeSantis when it comes to support among Republican primary voters. Whether or not this lead will hold until 2024 remains to be seen.
