Los Angeles, California | December 15, 2025 - Acclaimed filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on Sunday, in what authorities are investigating as a double homicide allegedly committed by their son, Nick Reiner.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the deaths occurred at the couple's residence in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue. First responders arrived around 3:30 p.m. on December 14 after a medical aid call and discovered the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. Law enforcement sources, speaking to outlets including People magazine, CNN, and the Los Angeles Times, identified the victims as Rob and Michele Reiner and stated that their 32-year-old son, Nick, is the primary suspect.

Multiple sources close to the family told People that Nick Reiner allegedly killed his parents, and their daughter, Romy Reiner, discovered the bodies. LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton stated during a Sunday night press conference that no suspect has been publicly identified, no one is in custody, and the investigation remains ongoing. However, sources indicated there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting a domestic incident.
A family spokesperson reiterated their earlier statement: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."
Nick Reiner, who co-wrote and inspired the 2015 film Being Charlie —a semi-autobiographical story about teenage addiction directed by his father—has a history of struggles with substance abuse, as publicly discussed by the family in past interviews.

Michele Singer Reiner, a photographer and producer whom he married in 1989 after meeting on the set of When Harry Met Sally..., worked alongside her husband on projects including Shock and Awe. The couple had three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy.
